built new computer asus t2 installed xp, next day failed to boot checked bios and hard drive and dvd drive not detected when checked set to auto any ideas

are your ide cables connected the right way round, normal is the stripped line on cable to the inside of harddrive or cd/dvd there are some floppy drives wherem this is reversed, have you set the jumpers to master and slave, if both are master one or none at may be seen.
