I have had to replace a dead hard drive - the bios does not appear to recognise the new larger drive - I may need a bios upgrade but do not know where to get one. the Mobo maker is no more - the bios is by award - 1997, any ideas?

There should be a utility on your new drive manufacturer's website that will allow the drive to be recognised by an older BIOS. OR, you could buy and install a PCI to IDE card.

the manufacturer of your hard drive should have a utility to "fool" your motherboard into accepting your new drive, check out the website of your new drive.....for Maxtor its Maxblast, dont know about others.

good luck
