Hi have just finished putting my pc together and some may be fed up of me already as i have already posted several about my problems with building a pc. so i have installed everything but my cpu speed shows on computer properties as 1.25ghz but my cpu is an amd athlon xp 2800 barton 333Mhz and it doesnt go above 280 Mhz on FSB, i was wondering what settings i set to make it run at 2 ghz. In the voltage settings in Bios it shows :

Spread Spectrum - Disabled
CPU FSB Clock - 100 Mhz
CPU Ratio - Auto
CPU VCORE (V) - Auto
DDR Voltage (V) - Auto
Terminator Vol (V) - Auto
AGP Voltage (V) - Auto

Thanks in advance if you could tell me the settings. WAI

try setting clock speed to 133mhz

reference, here's the clock speeds of the Athlon XP CPU's . . .

Athlon XP 2800+..... (333MHz FSB) 2.25GHz ..... 13.5 x 166
Athlon XP 2700+..... (333MHz FSB) 2.167GHz ..... 13.0 x 166
Athlon XP 2600+..... (333MHz FSB) 2.083GHz ..... 12.5 x 166
Athlon XP 2600+..... 2.13GHz ..... 16 x 133
Athlon XP 2500+..... (Barton) 1.83GHz ..... 11 x 166

Waikent,
surely will need to see m/b make and model number. To alter the jumpers to get CPU to run at correct speed need normally info in your manual or available on-line.
Also (guessing here) shouldn't your bios show enabled CPU FSB ?

  WaiKent 16:20 07 Nov 03

erm.. my motherboards brand new so it doesnt use jumpers no more and its just editable in the bios. so which do i change to 13.5 to times by 166? the cpu ratio?

  Rayuk 17:31 07 Nov 03

cpu fsb clock = 166
cpu ratio=auto [or if it doesnt register as 2800+ change it to 12.5]
The 2800+ Barton is actually 2.08GHz
the Tbred is 2.25GHz

  WaiKent 17:50 07 Nov 03

the ratio on it only has 12.5/13.0 what does this one mean? and it has registered as 2.09 ghz atm. will it matter?

set fsb to 166mhz

That is ok some motherboards are slighlty out its actually 2.083 I think
