Best Printer for Card

Could anyone advise me on the best printer - inklet or laser - for printing on card?

I have an Epson Photo 830 and am having great difficulty in getting it to take through 220gsm card. I have used heavier card before this but, at the moment, it does not take it through and, consequently, there is ink smeared on several following pages. It takes several print jobs to clear the deposited ink. The waste of ink - and card - is somewhat expensive.

The printer is around four years old and I am hoping that someone might be able to recommend a more up to date printer which might handle ordinary paper and card, and also be rather less heavy on ink cartridges. I would definitely consider a laser printer if it fulfilled these requirements.

You are into heavier spending for a 'flat path'

I put 'printers flat path' into Google and among others it offered links to Oki B4350 (Laser), Canon i9950, and Epson R1800

Well, I have used quite a few Epson printers and have never had a problem with printing on any type of paper/card.

My current printers are Epson 895 and Epson R200 both of which have no problems printing on 220gsm card. In fact my R200 will print directly on to CD/DVD.

Iwould think that of the printer types it would have to be inkjet over laser- because of potentional feed problems through the heater unit.
And topfeed inkjet over the HP bottom feed types because once more of the convoluted feed track.
When I print pictures for display I am using an Epson
R300 and the material is Ilford Galeriea 240GSM both Glossy and Pearl- No problems what ever have been experienced

Thank you for the responses.
I originally chose the Epson precisely because it is a straight through printer.

I will investigate the other Epson's referred to but would really appreciate anyone with an Epson Photo 830 who might be able to give their experience with this printer.

Obviously no-one looking in has the 830.

Having done research I am thinking of buying the Epson Styls Photo R800 - doeas anyone have this printer and would like to comment on its efficacy?
