Best possible GPU upgrade?

I Bought this old machine until I have the money for something new, the GPU is clearly not working properly, (random display freezing and black out and system shut-downs). I am looking to stick the best possible card into it "on a budget", used cards are fine/ebay e.t.c. Can anyone recommend a period card that will be good on this set up?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66ghz (core 1.168v bus 333mhz fsb 1335, multi X6) , arctic freezer 7 cooler asus p5k m/b 4gb ddr2 ram pc6400 (400mhz) Zotac 8800GT 512MB DDR3 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card 450w psu

I have looked at a few cards and wondered out of these might be suitable or best?

Inno3D NVIDIA 9800 GTX + 512MB PCI-E BFG 9800 GT HIS Radeon IceQ HD 4670 (1G) Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB Asus Geforce 9800 GTX+ 512MB DDR3

Any advice greatly appreciated.

It may be an issue with the graphics card -but there are other potential causes of the problems you describe... It could be memory, PSU - a number of things.
