Which is the best OCR package in your view? The best means: accuracy for both character recognition and format keeping

Abbey Fine Reader do great FREE program which you can find in Google.
It has a good record with very few errors unlike some OCR programs.

Agree ABBYY is the best I've used.

Hi, Concur - ABBYY is best, does graphics as well as text.

I would go with Scansoft Omnipage. Not free though, but is the best.

As above Scansoft. I use Textbridge 9 and far and above ABBEY

Accurate results with OCR software is a function of both the software & the scanner. A poor quality scanner & good software will not produce good results, and the converse also applies.
Another area to watch is the settings adopted in your scanner; the presets usually given for OCR can often be bettered with experimentation.
In terms of software Omnipage Pro is undoubtedly the best; it has accuracy rates near 100% if set up properly.
