Best method to remove tape hiss

  Happy37 14:29 PM 03 Dec 11

Hello everyone.

Can someone please advise what the best method is to remove the "tape hiss" noise that is always present on an AM radio cassette recording?

I have transferred the particular part of the recording that I want to keep into Audacity using a line-in input/output cable from my cassette player to the PC.

I would like to remove the hissing noise in the background...this would be a bonus and great help.

Can this be done using Audacity, or a similar program?

All suggestions and best methods will be most welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

This is as good as any of the free ones, however if the hiss is very loud, nothing (the home user) can use will remove it completely.

As you have Audiocity (?), this is the method offered.
