Is a Belkin G+ MIMO compatable with Virgin?

I got a Belkin G+ MIMO router. I could not get it to work on my desktop p.c. I phoned Belkin tecnical support and was told it is not compatable with Virgin Media. I thought all routers were universal.

I have VISTA & I.S.P. is VIRGIN MEDIA.

(Sorry if this appears twice, i had trouble posting this message)

There are two kinds of broadband - ADSL which uses the phone network and cable which uses dedicated cable connections separate from the phone network. Virgin took over NTL and Telewest who used both types depending on the area. You most likely have the wrong kind of router for your particular variety of broadband.

I did have the ADSL one which was right as i do not get a cable connection.

I have since taken it back to PC World, who had never heard of that particular problem before.

I got a NetGear Super-G Wireless Router. I haven't tried to connect it yet.

I decided to change it in the first place because my older D-Link router has an intermittent connect for my desktop but has a good connection for my wireless laptop. In the last 2 days it has also become very hot.

Some models do get surprisingly warm to the touch. Good luck setting up your new one, post if you have any problems - plenty of knowledgeable folk here to assist.
