Belkin ADSL+2 modem router & laptop problem

My laptop is an Acer Travelmate 4051lci (with built in WiFi), yesterday I bought the high speed router from Belkin, and have managed to set it up correctly.

However, it will only detect the wireless network if the ac adapter is connected to the laptop. Unplug it & I lose all connection & can't even see the wireless network!

In my device manager the Intel PCIC compatible PCMCIA adapter says that it cannot start. I have tried updating the drivers, but windows xp says that I have the best ones already.

Are these two issues connected? And does anyone know how I can sort it out?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Why do I get this sense of "déjà vu"?

I have already replied with a suggestion in the "other forum" where you posted the same question - click here

Thank you very much. I didn't think to check the power settings - all sorted now.
