BBC Radio Player problem

Whenever I listen to a BBC radio programme, via their Radio Player, the sound periodically deteriorates. Voices sound as though the people have stuck their heads into a huge tin can and got the hiccups.

This lasts for a few seconds and then the sound returns to normal.

Is there anything I can do about this, or is it just a symptom of a variable internet connection ("up to" 2MB broadband)?

Does anyone else get the problem?

Thanks jh1885. How do I get the BBC Player to default to using WMP?

Thanks csqwared. If I install Real Alternative, will this automatically become my default BBC Radio Player, or would I have to uninstall Real Player?

Try changing the buffer size ; click here

The audio stream is only about 9kb/sec, way less than even the slowest broadband connection.

Thanks brundle. I've followed the instructions on that link, and I'll see how I get on now.

I'll report back in a day or two.
