How can I stop Word automatically putting in a full date (ie 2004-09-26) when all I wanted was the 2004?

Don't know what version of word you have, but on mine, word 10.0, go to tools-->auto-correct options. on the box that pops up, select the smart tags tab and unselect date.

Rather than pressing "enter" after 2004, make a space and it should not do it.
