Bad Checksum on first boot

  sputnick 19:56 18 Mar 04

I occassionally get problems when I boot up.
I get a message saying Bad Checksum, and I have to go into the bios and reset my time and date and my own preferences ie. proccessor speed etc.
I have changed the bios battery but it still happens every few weeks.
Any suggestions ???
