bad block on hard drive

hello iv had this computer since dec 03
iv had lot of problems shutting down out of the blue ect, i had to send off for the master disk cost 41.20 installed ok then downloaded sp2???
all went wrong memory dump got that sorted
now it looks as if there is a bad block on my hard drive cannot sort it out any help would be great

Start, Run, type

cmd

and click OK.

At the > prompt type in

chkdsk /f

and press the Enter key,

It is quite normal for a hard drive to have one or two bad blocks. You will even find this on a brand new drive. However, if the results of a thorough scan used periodicaly show an increasing number of bad blocks, this is an indication that your hard drive is on the way out.

There is nothing you can do about bad blocks. Scandisk for example will just mark these as bad and prevent anything from accessing them.
