Backup storage devices - recommendations?

Having just had a fright where I nearly lost all the data on my hdd, I'm now looking at backup storage devices. Someone recommended LaCie (e.g. they do a 250Gb USB hard drive), but then my local pc shop bad-mouthed LaCie in favour of Western Digital (?). What is a reliable brand at a decent cost?

Lacie 200Gb External USB2 Hard Drive is good and around £90 or so. Also the Maxtor One Touch range are reliable. Don't know why anyone should bad mouth Lacie..they work without any trouble, at least as far as I am concerned. I am sure others will come up with other makes that are just as good in their estimation.

Hi, Maxtor has a download package that allows you to do a complete hard drive image onto another hard drive, providing that you have a 'Maxtor Hard drive' installed in your system. When I say complete I mean Complete. Cheers, Bill
