does anyone know how to backup my downloaded and installed updates from ms. have not got any backup software except ms backup. running win 98.

crazycrane - if they are already installed via windowsupdate site, then they are not saved locally.

What you can do is create an image of your system as it is now, or order a CD from MS with all the updates on it: click here

Thanks for that link, last time I crashed I had to reinstall all the fixes from SP1 onwards. It took a long time. I thought that the XP Backup found on the XP Home disc would do the job, but it won't restore. So I have now gone to EZBackup. But this link is good just in case.
