Backing-up Outlook Express

  Mr. Chips 13:26 11 Mar 08

I use Windows XP SP updated.
I am being asked by Outlook Express to compress my messages.
When I have done this in the past I have lost a number of my emails.
I cannot find a way of backing Outlook Express up before I agree to the compression.
Have I missed something somewhere .... or is there a facility that MS provide, or even a 3rd party piece of software that I can use?

Thanks TechnoTiger

I should have put my brain into gear and thought of going there myself.

Sorry for wasting your time ... but many thanks for taking the time.

It is a pity that MS don't provide a facility to do this, rather than just a complicated way of doing it all manually!

Thanks again.

If that's too much trouble than

I bought it ages ago, long before I learnt how to do it the tedious way, and its never let me down. Also has the advantage of reminding you to do backups on a regular basis.

That looks to be just what I want.

£20, its ridiculous to go through all the MS route, for saving £20

Many thanks

Or another about the same price which I can thoroughly recommend, and you get a free trial period also.

Or even click here which is free.

So what's not free about Outlook Express's own inbuilt backup method?

I wasn't suggesting that the MS way was not free. It is, however, a little complicated for a regular backup routine.
A programme was suggested,Express Assist, which costs £20-00. For OE the freebie backup + DBextract will perform most, if not all, of the functions of Express Assist from one GUI for no outlay.
