Everything that I record thru my mike comes out with a strong background mush. I tried adjusting from PlayControl under Microphone by putting the indicator up and down, but it did not improve. Could it be my mike is faulty?? Thanks.

Most, but not all microphones that are supplied for PC use are of the cheap variety, and provide poor sound input. If you have a decent sound card, then borrow a good quality microphone to try. I think you will be quite surprised at how good the sound can be. j.
