backdoor.rsbot - norton cant delete it?

  Jamesy 15:31 21 Jul 03

I've recently discovered backdoor.rsbot on my system. I have Norton IS 2003 running with the latest virus updates. Anyway, Norton doesn't seem able to delete it or quarantine it automatically. I click scan comp (for everything) and it detects it and says fixed but at the end of the scan it says infected 1 and it hasn't done anything to remedy the virus. There is no option to quarantine the file either. Maybe because it's infected a system file? It's called MSAPP.dll or something and its in the System32 folder.

How do I get rid of this as Norton 2003 seems unable to (automatically at least) and I am a PC novice

Contact Norton I would suggest as a first step.

If you go to the Symantec website:

you will find the required information.

It is part of the normal Symantec service to backup Norton AV, Utilities etc.
