You would be much better off converting the avi file to an mpeg. This will reduce its size by about a factor of 8-10.

ie your 700MB avi file will be 70-100MB as an mpeg.

What software do you currently have for video editing - bare in mind if you have Windows XP it comes with Movie Maker

Ahead Nero Xpress

Noero is a burning program. Do you have something like Pinnacle Studio, MYDVD, Ulead Movie Maker.

Do you have Windows XP

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Movie Maker.

Have a look around this program, it is good for a beginer. It is a cut down version of many of the Video Editing programs available.

You will be able to take your avi file and burn it onto CD. In doing so the avi file will be massively compressed allowing many more minutes of video on each CD.

If your CD says it holds 700MB, it is unlikely to take a 699MB file unless you're doing a straight data burn. Formatting the disk takes up some space, and if you have an AVI file, there are files which will go on the disk in the background, to make it readable when you put it in a player or PC.
