I recently installed AVG 8 Free

1) I've just had the Vista Service Pack 1 update and now the Windows Security Centre is not recognising that I have AVG anti-virus installed. So it is not reporting whether anti-virus is up to date. Does anyone know of a solution please, without having to re-intall AVG 8?

2)AVG 8 Free also installed anti-spyware and turned off Windows Defender. I was unable to turn Windows Defender back on. I would like to eiher run both or just Windows Defender.

Any help gratefully received

"I recently installed AVG 8 Free"

What AV did you have previously? Did you uninstall it?

(Thanks Clapton - it was AVG 7.5 and v8 uninstalled it)

NOW RESOLVED thankfully!! Since raising this question, I have shut down the PC totally and rebooted. Everything is now ok and both Windows Defender and AVG Spyware are showing ok.
