AVG message Virus @ Core Exception

  MS35 15:29 11 Dec 04

Been suffering with hanging/freezing on boot up (Win 2000) and various blue screens. I've just moved RAM to a different location and dialog box came up on first start with AVG message "Virus @ Core Exception C:Windows\System32\wbem\wbemess.dll" As it suggested I've run AVG but it doesn't pick it up on a full or partial test. File size in explorer is 364kb. Can anyone help? Could this file be the root of my problem?

Think this is spyware, maybe trojan so you may want to scan with spybot or ad aware, and an online trojan/virus scan click here

Also may have somthing to do with spyweeper/spychecker?.

Thanks Acolyte

I have been running AdAware (& AVG). I've just run the Trojan Scanner report and that looks clean.

Starting scan at 15:36:41:446...
Scan Memory
Memory not infected
Scan folder: 'C:\', recursive
Unable to scan C:\System Volume Information - Access is denied.
Finished scan at 15:49:32:605
Total number of files is 41920, number of infected files is 0

What I can't understand is how AVG can pop up a dialog box and tell me there's something there but not find it on a scan.

Should i delete it and run a windows repair? or any other thoughts?
