AVG and Eicar - Not impressed

Been using Nortons AVs to protect my PCs until now.

I only have the one license for NAV 2004 and that is installed else where.

So downloaded AVG, installed, updated and decided to throw EICAR at it. The resident shield did not pick it up and only a manual scan picked it up and it failed to delete it.

NOT impressed but am i missing a setting somewhere?

May be some little setting.

Give me a clue.

AVG has always detected and deleted EICAR for me.

Where did you get it from - did you try click here??

In fact i have used EICAR to show clients what happens when their new AVG installation detects a virus and how to deal with it.

I know ALL antiviruses detect eicar.

Try reinstalling.

"I know ALL antiviruses detect eicar."

Not ALL do - only those that agree to the test in the first place.

I tried your download link and PandaAV picked it up instantly and neutralised it ... thanks . ;-))

The first time AVG detected eicar and offered to get rid. I told it to leave it. Now at manual checks it is detected but no action is taken. All seems ok to me.

Another panda user!!

I found panda very quick and non-intrusive.

However, Mc Afee have copied the lovely pop-ups that panda has when it detects a virus.

Sorry.

yeah, all the ones I know of I meant.

Should have been more clear.
