Hi
I cannot run this program having upgraded so a system restore was done. Now I find it still wont run.
So I attempted an uninstall but get this error message....
Local machine: installation failed
Initialization:
Error: Checking of state of the item file link_All_Users_AVGHelp_FR failed.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (32)

Now I cant repair or run AVG any ideas guys?
Thanks
Steve

Reinstall AVG first.

tried reinstall and repair option but still get this error.
Also, using add/remove in control panel results in same error ...

Try removing via Safemode, tapping F8 on startup.

tried using safemode but the same error came up.
Tried restoring again to 3 weeks ago same error came up.
Not sure where to go next - might think about buying a new Antivirus.

thanks guys
still no joy...
moorie tried this but came up blue screen of death.
Also did sys restore to two months ago same error which on start up says
"could not initialise AVG anti virus kernel interface appication cannot run"
Also there appears to be a languafe file missing when re-installation attempted
wave doesnt seem to be any similar problem - do they offer support?

Just a thought, but if the error message is stating it's in use, have you tried looking in Task Manager to see if an aspect of the AVG installation is running in the background? If so it can be shutdown from there. I believe that all the AVG componants have AVG in the name, so it will be easy to spot them if one or more is still there.

Sorry if I'm teaching my Granny to suck eggs, but it was my first thought.

good idea Taurus done that but still unable to delete/ uninstallas some files still seem in use despite them not being visible.
Is there a manual delete possible or registry change?
Totally braindead - thanks been there already and followed the step by step manual installation but no difference.
