AVG 7 Free & C: Boot Sector Read Error

I am running Windows 98SE and since a recent AVG update I have noticed that when I run a scan on my C: drive, AVG reports that the Boot Sector of Disk C: has a Read Error. The PC boots okay and scandisk and Norton Disk Doctor don't report a problem.

Another partition, on the same hard drive, running Windows 95 OSR2, did not report this error when checked with AVG, but when I updated AVG the problem report showed up.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

Peter.

It's an ongoing problem that is being investigated by Grisoft. It's a false alarm apparently.

Thanks for the information Paul. I thought it might be something like that, but as I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere I thought I would as the question. I shall wait and see if an update cures the problem.

Thanks again, Peter.
