av extention

Not so long ago i transfered some of my old VHS recording to my pc. At that time i didn't have any problem playing it. But lately for some reason i can't play it at all . The reason supposely is the file has an extention.i did record it using a (dazzle) pinacle software.
Please help me solve the problem, do i need to buy another sofware or is it possible to remove the av extention.

many thanks

Go to start>settings>control panel>folder options>view and un-tick 'Hide extensions for known file types'. Go to the folder where your videos are stored and click on the views icon and choose details. You should now be able to see the full file name together with its 3 letter extension. Let us know what that file-name is because it is not clear to me from your input what the problem is.

Hi terryf......the extention are avi.index and.scn

Thanks a lot for your help
