Does anyone know whether 'autosave' in Excel 2000 overwrites the active file or does it save a backup somewhere else and if so in which folder?

If you mean auto recovery the answer is know it only creates a backup when the system goes down. If you mean autosave click here

Thanks Brynit. The Microsoft FAQ fully answers my question although I don't fancy the idea of losing the original file after having made a few changes which may be only temporary. The Word autosave is better as it leaves the original file unaltered.
