Autoplay on CD/DVD insertion

  Buff1 19:57 18 Mar 05

Hi there. I hope there is somebody who can help. I have just noticed when I insert a cd or dvd into the drive it does not autoplay. This happens on both my drives. I also noticed In My Computer the devices with removable storage remain as if there is no disk in the drive. Ie CD Drive (E) even with a disk in place. I have tried right clicking the drive, properties, autoplay, but this does not seem to work. The OS I am using is Windows XP. Thanks for your time. I hope somebody can help

locate the drive in device manager and right click on it, select uninstall, you will be asked to reboot, do so. Upon windows starting up, it will reinstall the drivers, hopefully replacing any corrupt ones that might have been there.

Go to My Computer.

Right click on the icon for your CD/DVD drive. Click on Properties; AutoPlay.

From the drop down menu at the top, choose which media you are inserting (music CD for example) and then click on 'Select an Action to Perform' below the drop down menu.

Choose the action you want to perform (for example, Play using Real Player) and then click Apply and OK.

Repeat for each drive.

Thanks JonnyTub. I got the problem sorted by uninstalling the cdrom drives and rebooting. Cheers Buff1
