I use to regularly recommend the use of AutoPatcher to those having to reinstall XP and SP2.

with sp3 beta available, is autopatcher not needed.

Autopatcher is whole lot better that SP3 beta simply it contains better options and components for customising your system.

There's a choice of tweaks you can apply, add things to the context menu, disable animated search characters, disable XP Tour and Desktop Cleanup Wizard etc etc - handy if you always reconfigure things after installing XP. click here
