Automatic Update

I have posted this in SP2 forum with no response so I am trying here.

Today I have noticed post SP2 that on two of my machines ( I haven't yet checked the others) the Automatic Update default setting is to look for updates everyday at 03.00hrs.

I always power my machines down at night so they are never on at 3am.

I have now changed the setting to everyday at 18.00hrs when I know the machines will be on.

Does anyone know if, having missed the 3am update check, whether Windows would have automatically continued to check for updates when the machine was on.

If this is not the case then I am sure many people will not be aware of this 3am default and will think they are set to receive their updates automatically.

The default setting is 3.00 but in practice this does not make a difference as the updates will be picked up nexttime you log on. I noticed this during the SP2 download,
