Automatic File Backups with XP

I run Windows XP and wondered if there is a piece of software that automatically backs up selected files or folders whenever an external USB or HDD is connected?

Does XP have this facility or will I need to download a programme to do it?

Xp has a backup facility but you may have to add it from your XP disk if you have XP Home like I did. click here I haven't used it yet (been using Nero backitup to CD's for years on my desktop!) but I presume it is the same as the Vista facility I have on my laptop that schedules full/incremental backups, i.e. If you specify CD/DVD or external HDD backup location and it isn't connected at the scheduled time, you get a warning that backup was stopped. Not sure if it then automatically backs up when you next connect HDD but you can start it from the warning popup when you log in.

Have a look at Allway Sync which will do the job that you want, and it's free.
