automatic downloads of windows updates.

When I go into add and remove programmes,I find more and more Windows updates and Hotfix's which seem to be taking up loads of room. How do I know if I really need all of them? Would it be safe to delete any of them?

  Skyver 15:28 16 Nov 05

Just untick the "Show updates" box at the top of the screen. Don't uninstall any of them.

You should only get the updates necessary for your system.

If you download the very latest version of Belarc Advisor it provides (because of US legislation) a list of important/missing updates/patches etc.

Thank you Skyver, where do i find the box you refer to?

  Hamish 19:32 16 Nov 05

At the top of the Add & Remove screen

If you were to buy the very latest, the very latest version of windows operating system, I am sure it would include these updates built into it.

So Why would you not want them ?
