Autoformat Excell Cells

Is there any way of formatting excel cells so that they fill in a selected colour when any data (text or numeric) is entered into them?

Take a look at Conditional Formatting click here

Thanks VOG and I may be blind but I cannot see the answer here. To clarify, I want blank cells to change to a colour when I enter any text or numerics in them.

All it is, is an action list and if a task is completed by entering the relevant number/text, the unfinished tasks are obvious by not being coloured.

There may be a way of programming this through conditional formating but I can't see it.

Select the whole sheet by clicking the grey square to the left of A and above 1.

Format > Conditional Formatting, click the dropdown to change to Formula Is, enter the formula

Then click the Format button, apply a format and OK your way out.

Absolutely brilliant. Just what I wanted. Thanks VoG.
