autoexec.nt problems a quick fix

  j3nks 20:33 21 Dec 04

If you are having problems opening a 16bit program on XP relating to autoexec.nt then try this as a quick fix.
Run a search for autoexec.nt copy one of the found files and copy the file.
Paste into c:\windows\system32 renameing if the file has a underscore (_) sufix.
Right click on the file selecting properties and change the file to read only and hidden. This last part is not needed on most PC's but some will remove the file when restarted but changing the properties prevents this.
Hope this is of help it has never failed with the software I support and is alot easier than following the microsoft knowledge base which basicaly does the same thing but you have to create the file yourself.
