Auto Shut Off Not Working

hi my computor shuts down and gets to the point where it is safe to turn off but i have to hold in the switch for a few seconds, it used to turn off automaticly any ideas???

Have you done a windows update to see if there is a patch for this? I know that this used to be very commen with Windows 98 and there was a patch created to help eliminate the problem from the windows update site click here

the computor program windows 2000 pro shuts down to the screen saying its now safe to turn off your computor but to power down i have to hold the power switch in for 7 seconds its the power down bit that needs sorting
