i have winxp pro does anyone know a program that will automatically shut down the computer at a preset time ?

type shutdown /? at a command line, this will list all the switchs that you can use, one of which is a time delay.

Once you have this working how you want you can create a batch file and then use task schedular to run the batch file at the time you want

brings up a gui interface that will help you out, but if you want to use schedular you'll have to create a batch file. Try the extension .cmd rather than .bat for your batch file, XP seems to prefer that
