auto redirecting of one web site to another

  Mr. Chips 14:07 02 May 03

I used Dreamweaver to write web-site ONE which is hosted with Tiscali.
I then wrote web site TWO which is hosted with Freeserve.
They have different www addresses.
I now want any visitors to site ONE to be immediately and automatically transferred to site TWO.

How do I do this please?

You can use several ways of page redirection, but one of the easiest is as follows:

This forst line goes after the </head> tag and before the <body> tag:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;URL=type-your-full-URL-here">

Now put something like this after the <body> tag:

This page has moved.<br>

You will be automatically taken to the new location in 5 seconds<br>

Finally you could include a manual hyperlink for those people with older browsers that may not support automatic redirection.

There are Java solutions and DHTML, but I prefer straight HTML since just about all browsers can cope with it.

Sorry for the typo.

"This forst line goes after the </head> tag..." should obviously have read, This first line...
