Auto connect with Thunderbird

Could someone please tell me how to get your internet connection to connect as soon as you launch thunderbird instead of opening a box up for you to click on.

You need to go into the settings of your dial up connection and tell it to dial automatically. How you do so will depend on your operating system.

I may be wrong, but I think this would be a dangerous thing to do. I think it makes it easier for malware to dial out without your knowing about it.

It can be done with Thunderbird as you wish, but from my experiance it does not work very well.

Thunderbird will try and retrieve mail as the connections is in the process of being made, and fail, as the connection has not yet fully been made. Better to leave it as it is, or connect first, then launch Thunderbird, I find.
