audio quality

I downloaded an audio book where the bitrate was pretty low. The resultant audio quality leaves something to be desired. Is there anything I can do to improve the quality - words like re-sampling come to mind but I wouldn't know how to do it
any help appreciated

I doubt if you can but maybe someone will prove me wrong! It's like taking a picture with a cheap camera and then wanting to improve the sharpness of the print. If the information isn't there on the original then it's not possible to regenerate it.

I used to be a sound engineer back in the analogue days with valves etc, and if you started with "toilet" there was very little you could do,and I think the same goes for the digital age!I think dms05 sums it up very well. Sorry!
