audio output from the wrong monitor

I use two monitors. Up till now I had audio output from the one which is not the main one (i.e. not the one with the start bar). Since yesterday it is the main monitor that started to speak but the sound is unclear, with echo. It happened while my 5 year old was watching his DVD, he does not admit to any tweaking. Can somebody tell me how to ask the computer to direct the sound to the other monitor, please?

After more searching I see the sound is coming from the correct monitor. So it is just that: it sounds different than it used to and speech is difficult to understand because of echo effect. Any ideas anybody?
