I erased the above from my PC and now have no sound. Is it possible to reverse this

possibility look in device manager for yellow ! reload sound drivers for you sound card

Do you have the make and model number of your m/board? It's very likely that the drivers can be downloaded from the manufacturer's support site.

The motherboard make and model information will provide details of the (presumably onboard sound chipset) you are using i.e. C-media, Realtek etc.

You can then either download the drivers and install them again from the click here website or the chipset manufacturer's website support pages.

If it's a sound card then, again, the drivers can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

I did a system restore to a date that the sound driver was working and it was restored and is working OK. Thanks to all who tried to help
