Audio CD playing

Every time I try to play any audio CD i get the following error message

"Windows Media Player encountered an error when reading the CD-ROM drive in digital mode. Click OK to switch to analog mode. Click Cancel to return to digital mode."

So I click ok and then the following error is displayed

"Windows Media Player encountered an error when reading the CD-ROM drive in digital mode. You can try to use digital mode again, or you can switch the Player to analog mode."

When I ask for more information I get this.
"0xC00D11F8: Cannot play the CD using digital playback." I have tried playing the CD in analog mode but makes no difference. I have tried reinstalling windows, both of my CD-ROM drives as neither of them will play audio CDs. Can somebody please help me?

do you have the drive connected to your sound card

dont know if this will help but have you tried going into device manager/cdrom/properties. and enable or disable digital cd audio.

@horiz5 yeah they are both connected to the sound card, everything was fine until last week when I went to play a music CD and it came up with that error message.

@britto iv checked and digital audio has been enabled for both drives
