Hi !!
I recently installed a new Pioneer DVR-107D writer which is in addition to a {Pioneer DVD-Rom DVD 114,but when I put a DVD into the Writer, I get Video but no sound. I accept that this could be due to there being only an Audio connection from the DVD - Rom to the only Audio Input on the Sound Card, but what I am interested in is it possible to get ( or make ) a split (?) type of Audio Cable that would allow me to get Audio from both Writer and DVD-Rom (albeit not at the same time) or is this sort of thing not possible in the Computer Field ?.

Right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager>right click on the appropriate dvd/cd drive>click properties>click on properties tab and you should see a box to enable digital cd audio for that device. It gets its source from the ide ribbon cale.

You can do this for both devices if you want, it works for me.
I'm using Win xp home ed sp1 1 x Samsung cd rom/rw and 1 x NEC dvdr/rw

Hi Bretsky
Many thanks for the help, went down the route that you suggested ,unfortunately no joy , there was no box for Dig/Audio. Remember that I am using Win 98 SE so I am wondering if my motherboard has the facility that you are suggesting.
