attachments sent and arrive but no paperclip

My friend's computer used to display a paperclip in the Inbox beside messages with attachments, but suddenly there are no paperclips; the attachments are there and can be opened without problems, it's just that there is no indication that there is an attachment as the paperclip is missing. I'm sure he'as clicked something that's made them disappear, but I can't work out what. Any ideas, please? XP and OE.

In OE, right-click the toolbar & select 'Columns...' (see pic click here). Put a tick in 'Attachment' & press the 'Move Up' button so it's placed to the extreme left (or left-click & drag it to the extreme left). G

Thanks,Crossbow7, there was already a tick in Attachment, but a bit of fiddling around along the lines you suggested has done the trick and all the opaperclips are back in view again.
