atp - addictive something or other

  aph 19:50 08 Nov 04

my PC is dialing up my ISP every five minutes (if I disconnect it will dial up after 5 mins)

I found a program called ATP in add/remove programs and so I removed it. I also searched my PC for anything called ATP* and found some files, one of which was a DLL so I deleted those as well. This has not got rid of the constant dial in but has added a further problem. Whenever I exit windows i get an error message saying 'could not halt programme' WUPDATE.exe

Can anyone help ?

ran Virus scanner and it turned up all sorts !!

McAfee managed to delete all but 2....

McAfee could also not 'clean' or 'quarantine' them.

I used Task Manager to stop them (under Processes tab) and then used McAfee to 'delete' them.

Everything looks good now...thanks for your help
