Hi

After 3 years of working OK, my HP DX2250 Running Windows XP, has decided to start crashing because of a driver problem with my ATI Radeon X1300 Graphic Card.

I completely uninstalled the old driver and catalyst software and downloaded and installed the updated driver and software from ATI website.

That made the problem even worse, so I uninstalled that package and downloaded and installed the update form the HP website, that work for a while but my PC started to crash again.

I have completely uninstalled all drivers and Software from my system and remove my graphic card and now running on the onboard Radeon Express 1150.

Since then I have been getting an Error44044 in the Service Control Manager

ati2mtag Error Event 44044, 12c return failed

Is there something still stored in the registry that windows is trying to load?

I did a search for this file, results below

ati2mtag C:\i386\sp2.cab--system File 2004

Try the free Driver Sweeper click here to remove any remnants of the old drivers. Run it in Safe Mode for the best results. G

Hi
Thanks for suggesting Driver Sweeper I down loaded it and ran it, but as I am using the onboard ATI graphic card I cannot tell one driver reference from another as they both use the same named files
