I am thinking of getting a new graphics card. About £300 punds is my limit. Simply because if i am going to upgrade I need to get a good G.card as it seems through reviews i have read my MSI Ti4200 beats most current FX5200's. I am taking the plunge in getting either:

a Radeon 9800 Pro type

or a Nvidia FX5900

Please could i have opinions on what you use, problems found with drivers and/or compatibility issues etc.

Or a better/ different card for a cheaper price somewhere else.

I have looked at the FX5600 as well

All opinions greatly recieved.

nvidia are better for driver support. I have a ti4200, if I could afford a new card I would go for a fx5600ultra version 2 with the improved clock speeds. The fx5900 ultra is the best card and will be good for the new dx9 games, doom, half-life2 when they come out but it is too expensive.

I think folk tend to recommend their own personal preference based on what they have become used to so personal recommendations are usually very subjective.

It would be good to do your homework by looking at objective labs reports.

Personally I have the ATI 9800 Pro which is excellent my previous experience of Nvidia cards put me off getting any more but I was probably unlucky.
