Are their any Furum members with a good knowledge of ATI (AMD) Drives for Graphics Cards and why it is when installing a ATI driver on a machine it requires NetFramework 2.0 before installing a AT?I driver.

Thanks for any info.

Q. Why was the decision made to use the .NET framework for the ATI Catalyst™ Control Center?

A. The Microsoft .NET Framework provides a highly productive, standards-based, enterprise-ready, multi-language environment that simplifies application development, and facilitates integration with existing software. The .NET framework gives programmers the freedom to write applications using a number of different programming languages, allowing customers to very easily develop extensions or services for the ATI Catalyst™ Control Center.

Why not just install the ATi driver from the ATi website and, instead of the Catalyst software, use the more compact but equally efficient ATi Tray Tools offering instead?

I've had this combination for two or three years now.

Installing catalyst also get you into the NET framework updates which are causing all the fuss just now
