Which is faster, the Athlon XP2400+ or the 2500+?

The 2500 is the latest core which should be faster, but also more efficient and cooler, than the 2400.

In theory.

Generally, the bigger the number, the faster the processor although you'll hardly notice the difference between 2400 & 2500.

2500+ is much much faster thanks to its full 512k L2 cache and a FSB of 333Mhz. The 2400+, while faster in clock speed, only has 256k L2 Cache and an FSB of 266Mhz.

2400+ = Thoroughbred core
2500+ = Barton core

Overclocked my 2.5 Barton chip to run at 2.466 GHz, running stable and temp is 38Celcius, I wouldn't like to try that on a Thoroughbred!
