Asus to Foxcon Board

Iam in the process of changeing an Asus board to a Foxcon board.
on removing the heatsink, i am left with, (under the Asus board a wide metal cross) with pillars
going through secured on the top side with tiny plastic clips.
on removing these clips, they either broke or flew off and cannot be found.
there are no clips in the new Foxcon box,
question! are they essential, or can i carry on and fit the heatsink without them?

Only you will know when you try, if it fits securely you have your answer...
