Asus Eee PC webcam query

Bought my wife Asus 4g running Linux. We both find it very useful.Just one thing disappoints. It has a "webcam" which,as far as I can see, cannot be used as a true webcam, for example, as I can do with my main laptop using Skype or Messenger.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks for any thoughts

Hi Popgeoff, the webcam can be used with Skype but you may have to update the skype version, if you are running out of the box Linux you have to go to the settings tab and click on add/remove software (you have to be connected to the internet)wait for the system to update and then you have to click on the internet tab there you should see the update for skype. You can also click on the othe tabs to update additional software.
As for the Pidgin the messenger syatem preloaded this cannot handle webcams but if you go to this site click here you will find all the information you may need.
